HA! Politics

First and foremost…HAPPY BIRTHDAY FATIMA!!! (CrazyTop). I know it was actually on the 6th but I got a little busy. Sorry dude.

Now, everyone from each corner of the bleeding Earth has been keeping an EXTREMELY watchful eye and listening ear on the U.S. What can I say? I’m extremely happy that Barak H. Obama is now our President Elect. Apparently so is most of the world. Unfortunately, what seems wonderful in the rest of the world, does not seem so in this “fair” and “united” country. I have to say that I am heartbroken and ashamed.

In Michigan, were were faced with 2 proposals that we had to decide on. Proposal 1, I’m not going to comment on because I guess I can’t fight the numbers…..legalize medicinal marijuana. I am proud to say that I voted NO for that one. I won’t get into “why” but I am not going to argue against those who believed so.

What I will argue about is Prop 2. Yes, it passed which is wonderful but it was a long and very hard road. I’m glad we were able to see through the lies that were being shoved down our throats. I work with someone who was on the Prop 2 board and it’s amazing what you can find out. Every single ad that ran on tv against prop 2 was a lie. Little do people know, they were paid for by the Catholic Church. I wonder why a religious organization was allowed to be so heavily responsible for political agenda’s and lobbying…

It’ maks you question why the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) is not taxing them. It makes you wonder if we actually did leave the middle ages when the Church (any church, really) ran things. hmmmmm……

Another thing that bothers me is Proposition 8 in California. For those of you who don’t know, California’s Supreme Court ruled that the marriage of same sex couples would be recognized. This was an amazing achievement. Unfortunately, prop 8 was presented (again endorsed by religious organizations) to “amend the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman”. In my opinion, the people (organizations) responsible for the passing of this prop should be taxed like everyone else. If this were to happen before the election, people wouldn’t have been lied to and there would REALLY be a separation of Church and State. Shame on us. Same on this naive nation. To restrict people from being in love? I mean does anyone else find this ridiculous? A ban on happiness? I would spit in their faces. (oops, did I say that out loud?)

I’m not going to get into the other props that passed that really shouldn’t have. It’s late and everyone knows that people are subject to what they hear and see on tv.

Now, for those who are thinking “I HATE POLITICS!”, so do I. It’s strange. When you get older, it becomes extremely interesting. It might seem confusing (trust me, this is what I have always thought) and at times it is, just ask and research. You might not care now because you might be young but when you are impacted so much by politics, you begin to pay attention.

I can’t wait for this economy to turn around. We need help.

  1. As a Catholic, I am truly fed up with the church. On the day of the election, I was driving to school, and on the way I pass by a very popular Catholic church/school, and they had “Yes on 102″ (AZ’s equivalent of prop 8) signs displayed everywhere. And then there was that ridiculous commercial that I gave the link to on my site. And then there’s the whole issue of abortion. I suppose you can call me pro-life and pro-choice. When it comes to myself, I am pro-life. I could never, ever abort a child. But I also think that we shouldn’t go around shoving our beliefs and “morals” down peoples’ throats. If a woman feels that she really must have an abortion, then that should be her prerogative. Although I don’t agree with it and would rather see that child live, it’s not my place to tell her that she must have that baby or she’ll go to hell. And did you watch Obama’s press conference today? I was ecstatic when he said that if the economy isn’t taken care of and a new stimulus plan isn’t approved during this “lame duck” period, then it will be the first thing on his agenda when he’s sworn in. I’m tired of seeing my parents’ retirement and life savings diminish. I’m tired of seeing my mom work three jobs to support our household. I’m tired of working my ass off (excuse the language), just to pay for car insurance, gas, and an unfair cell phone plan (one more year to go…). I’m tired of seeing older Americans, who have either retired already or are about to, go back to work because everything that they’ve worked for their entire lives was pulled out from under them. I’m tired of seeing babies and the elderly without healthcare, because they can’t afford it. I’m just sick of it all. Some people I know don’t understand why I supported Obama and not McCain. My reason for not voting for McCain had nothing to do with his age, or even Sarah Palin (ok, it had a little to do with her), and my reason for voting for Obama was not because I wanted to take part in electing the first black president. I voted for Obama because he really did evoke a sense of hope in me. And although there are some people out there who are sick of hearing that, I just tell them “You don’t know what it’s like to see your mother cry every night because she’s only making $7 an hour at each of her three jobs that she hates more than anything. You don’t know what it’s like to see your mother cry because she never had the opportunity to get a college education, therefore offering her better job opportunities. You don’t know what it’s like to go a year without wearing glasses or contacts, because every month you have to choose between them or paying your car insurance. You don’t know what it’s like to look at your college savings account and wonder how you’re going to pay for next semester and if you’ll even be able to go to school anymore. You don’t know what it’s like to watch your parents wonder if they’ll ever be able to retire, and then you wonder yourself about taking care of them when they’re old. You just don’t know what it’s like.” And that is why I voted for Obama.

  2. I do know what it’s like. That’s why I voted for Obama as well.
It’s like we are living the same life.

  3. it’s nice to know that someone else knows what it’s like. All of my other friends are “rich snobs” in a sense, so they don’t get it when I tell them stuff like this, because everything is already taken care of for them.

  4. I agree with many things, especially about obama.
Although with the gay marriage, I don’t really think it’s right for them to be called ‘married’ or a ‘marriage’
the definition : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife.
I dont have a problem with gay people at all i just get tired of all of the parades with men wearing thongs and acting like women flaunting it like it’s so special that they are gay whereas straight people don’t, but straight people do some weird things too anways….
to be absolutely honest I have some gay friends they are the nicest people I have ever known but what gets on my nerves is when a guy talks like a girl and act’s gay because it’s ‘cool’.
But there are truly some people that are honestly feel like a boy trapped in a woman’s body or the other way.

That’s my opinion I guess heh.

I really enjoy reading your interesting blogs :)

  5. Aww well thanks :) I like writing them…

I just have a few comments. A really good friend of mine is openly gay. He’s been in a 25 year relationship with his first lover. Recently I took a trip with him to Chicago and I said “You know I have no problem with gay people but why do some of them have to be so out there?” This was his response:

Society created this notion that being “straight” for men listed a bunch of “manly” or “masculine” qulaities. Growing up and acting a certain way was suppose to be a way of distinguishing the sexes. Being “gay” groups people together who are just being themselves. Look at it this way, if someone were to come to school with bright orange hair, people would call them weird. Why do you choose to wear the clothes you wear? Is it because you really like them? Or is it because you feel that you have to in order to stand out at NOT standing out. You can’t assume that someone is one thing and that another is another thing.

Being “gay” doesn’t come with a list of qualities that someone must obey and I’m sure people know that. The same goes for being straight. You can have a straight guy who likes watching Lifetime movies (I’m guilty :P ) and you can have a gay guy who enjoys video games and monster trucks.

There is a Personality Disorder known as “Histrionic Personality Disorder”. Here are a list of the symptoms:
    1. overly dramatic, attention seeking behavior
    2. Express emotions in an exaggerated fashion
    3. very concerned with appearance and often behave seductively, flirtatiously
    4. tend to hve shallow relationships
    5. act in stereotypical hyper-feminine or hyper-masculine ways because they believe this will elicit admiration from others
    6. emotionally shalow despite strong displays of emotion.

This is a real disorder that people suffer from. The causes are unknown but theories point to a lifetime of self repression. My good friend does not act like this and he is gay. In society, being gay usually forces people to repress who they really are and as a result something bad occurs.

oh and by the way, the word “marriage” is rooted from a religious term, but politically, it’s for equal spousal rights such as insurance, tax benefits, etc. Don’t get me wrong, people want to be able to call whomever they love “husband” or “wife” but when we start to say who can and can’t call their sig. other’s these things, we are forcing them to say how they are is wrong. I believe it is the equivalent of saying women can’t vote or African Americans are inferior. The whole debate is stupid.

  6. Thank You ^^
It wasn’t anything special anyway, all I did was turn 1908!
Now let me go and read the second half of the blog but at the moment, I think that McCain is the exact twin of Bush with all his pesky policies and everything so thank God for Obama but there is only so much he can do before he realizes the state of power that he’s in and then, well we all know what happens then, all hell sets loose!

  7. I do know what it’s like. That’s why I voted for Obama as well.
It’s like we are living the same life.
